Over 100 ‘108’ ambulance staff of Dindigul Government headquarters hospital, including 46 women, in the district have been facing untold misery while owing to lack of basic amenities at work places.
“Hospitals do not provide place inside the campus to sit and eat,” their association district president Suresh Pandi.
All our activities had to be managed in a small space inside the ambulance van, they deplored.
The worst affected were the women staff on night duty, they said.
The women staff had to stay inside the van which was parked on the road side near the GH at night hours, they said.
He said that ambulance staff in rural health centres managed to stay along with other para-medical staff in primary health centres in other parts of the district.
They appealed to the Chief Minister to provide a room, at least for women staff inside the Government Hospitals and primary health centres.
The ‘108’ ambulance service in the district has 100 workers, including 46 women manning 20 ambulances and two vans, meant for newborns.
