Ten two-wheelers and few bicycles parked on the Tallakulam police station premises were destroyed in a fire accident on Wednesday afternoon.

The police said that a fire lit to destroy waste materials had spread to the vehicles. However, no one was injured. Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Tallakulam Fire Station saved scores of other vehicles parked on the station premises by dousing the fire.

Station Fire Officer S. Chezhian said that some papers were being burnt when flames spread to the old vehicles. A lot of two-wheelers involved in various cases have been parked on the station premises for years. Most of them had lost their sheen as they were left under the sun and rain in the absence of a proper shed, a police officer said.

In a similar incident, three cars kept in police custody went up in flames few days back.
