Youth Congress activists on Friday gheraoed the secretary of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) alleging that he had favoured the sale of five cents of land owned by the authority to an individual for a price far below the existing market rates.
Nearly 50 activists of Youth Congress barged in to the room of the secretary in the morning and staged a protest for more than one hour. The activists alleged that the secretary had favoured the sale of land, which had at least Rs. 40 lakh as market price, for a paltry Rs. 15 lakh. Police later removed the activists from the scene.
