Koonamthai Pathadippalam Residents Association, with 130 members, has a success story to share about pipe composting. All the members of the association have set up pipe composting waste treatment system, which has been functioning satisfactorily. Enquiries are coming in from people in other areas on the right way to handle pipe composting because their earlier attempts were a total failure. There is a great demand among our members for the compost produced. We have also supplied pipes to many people other than the association members. To encourage association members, a prize was given away to the family that had been able to maximise vegetable production. The prize winner was chosen by an Agricultural Officer after a visit to the houses. This year the prize was bagged by K.N. Cicily.

Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council took out a march from Thiruvankulam to SAIL yard in Tripunithura, highlighting the concerns over lack of development of Tripunithura region. We urged the authorities to decide on the following demands – extension of Metro Rail up to Tripunithura, immediate construction of N.H. Tripunithura bypass, construction of Mamala-Chithrapuzha road before the monsoon, making Seaport-Airport Road six-lane and the second bypass of Kochi, completing the construction of drains on the Thiruvankulam-Karingachira Road, allowing halts for all express trains at Tripunithura railway station.
