A year-long film festival being organised in Kochi began at the Children’s Park theatre here on Friday evening. The festival opened with a documentary on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer on Friday, the death anniversary of the writer. Director Rituparno Ghosh’s Choker Bali was screened at 7 p.m.
Actor Remya Nambeesan, District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth, Hibi Eden, MLA, Krishnan Nair, secretary, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy, were present at the inauguration of the film festival, being organised jointly by the district administration, district information office, District Tourism Promotion Council and the Federation of Film Societies of India. Films will be screened at the theatre every Friday at 6 p.m. A hundred tickets, each priced at Rs.25 per show or Rs.100 for a month, can be obtained from the theatre.
