The president of the CITU A. K. Padmanabhan has called for the unity of all workers and appealed to members of the CITU to set examples so that the working class is not divided in its fight for its rights.

He was inaugurating on Sunday the 30th annual meet of Cochin Shipyard Workers' Union at the Ernakulam Town Hall.

He recalled the circumstances leading to the founding of the CITU and said that the unity of the workers was not for the sake of unity alone but for a united fight for the rights of the workers.

Former MP, K. Chandran Pillai; CITU district president K. J. Jacob; district secretary of the CITU P. S. Mohanan; district joint secretary K. A. Pushpakaran; president of the Shipyard Workers' Union N. Satheesh were among those who spoke at the meet.
