Work has begun at Kochi Metro’s second piling site in a 200-metre stretch near Aluva flyover.

The portion has been barricaded and piling has begun. Another rig has arrived and piling will commence in the coming days in an adjacent area on NH 47’s service road.

Meanwhile, work on the 17 pile has begun at the first piling site near Changampuzha Park, in the Edappally-International Stadium stretch. Test piling will begin next week at Vyttila Mobility Hub.

The district administration is expected to convene a meeting here on Monday to discuss the situation arising out of hurdles posed by trade unions to the smooth progress of Kochi Metro’s works. This was after contractors – most of them players at the national level — expressed shock and dismay at the loss of man-days because of the unrelenting attitude of a section of head-load and construction workers.
