Women journalists abused, threatened

July 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:21 am IST - KOCHI:

Three women journalists who were abused and threatened inside the High Court complex on Wednesday have urged acting Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishan to take action against the culprits. In a representation given to the acting Chief Justice, they narrated the untoward incidents that happened on Wednesday. When they came out of the media room in the afternoon, a group of lawyers rushed into the High Court building from the outside and started raising slogans against the media.

The lawyers soon barged into the media room and started punching on the doors of the room. They prevented these journalists from using the lifts as well.

In the meantime, the police on security duty inside the High Court complex came to the rescue of the women journalists.

They escorted them to the chamber of the Registrar General who informed them that the media room had been temporarily closed. The journalists called for the immediate intervention of the acting Chief Justice so that they could do their job fearlessly.
