A woman lawyer, who was allegedly assaulted by a private bus conductor, filed a writ petition in the Kerala High Court on Tuesday seeking a probe by a senior police officer into the case.

‘Hostile attitude’

According to High Court lawyer R. Padmakumari, the police are yet to conduct a proper investigation even after four weeks into the incident. She alleged that the sub-inspector of the Janamaithri police station, Palarivattom, was adopting a hostile attitude towards her.

The incident took place on April 25 in a private bus while she was travelling to the High Court from Mamangalam. According to her, the conductor picked up quarrel with her when she refused to give change for her ticket. The conductor used filthy language and when she questioned his behaviour he allegedly slapped her on her face.

No complaint registered

The bus along with the crew was taken to the police station. The sub-inspector did not register a complaint at the first instance and wanted to settle the issue, she said.

‘Wrong information’

When she took up the matter with R. Nishanthini, Deputy Commissioner, Kochi city, a case was registered. The police officer also allegedly gave her a wrong number of the bus when she asked for moving the Motor Vehicles Department for cancelling the licence of the vehicle.
