The woman traffic warden Padmini, who had been in the news ever since she lodged a police complaint against a local resident for allegedly assaulting her in public, was left jobless on Wednesday when she was left out of a fresh list of traffic wardens.

Ms. Padmini staged a satyagraha in front of the Edappally traffic station crying foul over what she alleged was a vindictive action by the police.

“When contacted, the agency that had recruited me told that the list was drawn up at the instance of the Edappally traffic police circle inspector,” said Ms. Padmini. The police official concerned could not be contacted.

She was informed about her non-inclusion when she reported for duty, it was alleged. A senior police official said that the traffic police have discontinued the service of all 171 traffic wardens in the city following a row over change in the uniform.
