Nija Jeevan, 44, of Nayarambalam, was arrested here on Friday evening on charge of cheating a woman to the tune of Rs.1.6 lakh after promising to get her a loan from the KSFE.

Nija allegedly pretended to be a KSFE agent and approached the Thevara resident saying she could get her a loan from the agency.

The woman told the police she paid Rs.1.6 lakh as advance so she could get the loan. When she did not get the loan, she asked for a refund. The police said the victim was threatened when she repeatedly asked that her money be returned to her.

Based on her complaint, a team from the Ernakulam Town South police led by Sub-Inspector V. Gopakumar conducted an investigation.
