Water adalat in city today

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - KOCHI:

Minister for Water Resources P.J. Joseph will inaugurate the district-level water adalat at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavanthra, on Tuesday.

The adalat, which will consider about 2,500 applications collected through 25 sub-division offices, will give an opportunity for consumers to settle overdue bills through the option of one-time settlement. Further, the bills of consumers who were billed in excess due to undetected leaks in underground water pipelines will be also considered.

The other key issues to be taken up include arrears for disconnected connections against which the utility had initiated revenue recovery, issues related to wrong billing because of meter defects and new connections.

A facility for spot registration of complaints has been set up at the venue.

The adalat will enable settlement of overdue bills.
