Warm welcome for PM in Kochi

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who arrived in the city on a two-day visit on Saturday, was received by Union Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas at the naval air station INS Garuda.

District Collector Sheikh Pareed, City Police Commissioner KG James, and Rear Admiral R. Harikumar, Flag Officer Sea Training of the Navy, were present to accord Mr. Singh a warm reception. Governor Nikhil Kumar, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan and Director General of Police KS Balasubramaniam also arrived on the Air Force plane along with Mr. Singh.

On arrival, he was driven straight to a hotel in Fort Kochi.
