The Ernakulam unit of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) conducted surprise checks at the offices of the Assistant Director of Resurvey in Ernakulam, Palakkad and Thrissur; superintendent offices under these offices; and the offices of the Additional Tahsildars at taluk offices that receive applications for resurvey.
The checks were part of a State-wide drive, ‘Operation Measuring Tape.'
In the district, checks were conducted at the Assistant Director's office in the district collectorate; superintendent offices at Ernakulam, Tripunithura and Aluva; and taluk offices.
Improper processing
During the checks, it was found that applications for resurvey were not being processed in the proper manner.
The applications received were not registered immediately — officials were found taking the applications to their homes — leading to much confusion, VACB sources said.
Pending applications
The Vigilance sleuths also found several applications pending.
Ottappalam taluk topped the list with nearly 10,000 pending applications.
In the district, Kunnathunadu taluk office had the maximum number of pending applications, 947.
