March 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:58 am IST - KOCHI:

Geetha, wife of R.Krishnakumar, petitioner in the Valakom assault case, on Monday objected to the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation stating it to be a road accident case.

Appearing before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here, she submitted that the CBI’s closure report was not substantiated. Following this, the court directed Ms. Geetha to file an objection statement against the closure report and posted it for further hearing on April 27.

The case pertains to the allegation that Mr. Krishnakumar was attacked by unknown persons near the Valakom MLA junction on September 27, 2011.

In February, the CBI had filed a report with the CJM that the claims of the victim that he suffered injuries after being physically assaulted with weapons were not substantiated. According to it, the victim’s chances of falling from a height and sustaining the injuries had not been proven.
