VACB estimates Sooraj’s income

T.O. Sooraj, former Secretary of the Public Works Department, has amassed unaccounted income worth around Rs. 10 crore, according to a report prepared by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), Kochi. This wealth was amassed during a 10-year period between 2004 and 2014. Mr. Sooraj, who has been placed under suspension, had earned around Rs. 3 crore from his known sources of income.

He had procured assets at 14 places in Ernakulam, three in Idukki, and an apartment at Thiruvananthapuram.

Assets were also reportedly bought in the name of his wife and children, the sources said.
