Two held; 1.2 kg of ganja seized

The shadow wing of the City Police held two persons with 1.25 kg of ganja after a search conducted in Kalamassery and Eloor.

City Police Commissioner M. R. Ajith Kumar had ordered surveillance over migrant labourers following a tip-off about narcotics being brought in from outside the State. Shihab, 24, of Mattummel Veedu, Kalamassery, and Halim, 26, of West Bengal, were arrested. Shihab had been arrested earlier on charges of selling dry ganja to school students and has an assault case against him.

Held for robbery

Three youths were arrested by Town North Police on charges of extorting money from a student.

The police said that John, 19, of Kannan Padavath veedu, SRM Road; Johnny, 21, from Kalamassery; and Sefin, 20, from Kothad, were arrested on charges of threatening Rajilesh, a student of a marine course at Kaloor.

Rajilesh was going along the byroad near GCDA market on Thursday evening, when the accused allegedly stopped him and forcibly took him to an ATM nearby. They made him withdraw Rs. 1,000. and threatened him of dire consequences if he reported the incident.
