Two arrested in sexual abuse case

Two persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with the case of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy.

Aneesh, the boy’s relative, and Manoj were booked on the basis of the complaint given by the boy’s parents for various charges including abetment and failure to report the crime to police.

They will be produced before the court later, said the police. The boy’s parents also alleged that the accused offered them money to settle the case.

The incident was reported at the Palarivattom police station on February 27. Following this, a case was registered under section 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 against the accused. They have been remanded to custody.

Tobacco products seized

The shadow wing of City Police seized tobacco products worth Rs.25,000 from a shop near Cochin Public School and KMM College, Thrikkakara. Sayed, 35, who operated Achu Stores, from where the seizure was made, was arrested.

In another case, the shadow wing arrested a person named Sunil, 21, on charges of attempting to escape after stealing a mobile phone worth Rs.4,000 from a shop at GCDA Shopping complex at Marine Drive.
