Former Indian offie Harbhajan Singh always dealt twin blows to hapless batsmen falling victims to his wizardry. Not only did he put an end to their stay in the wicket, but also gave them a very ‘colourful’ send off to the pavilion.

But as combative he is on the field, he is as gentle off it, which was evident at a function held here on Tuesday in which he was unveiled as one of the brand ambassadors of the second edition of the Kochi Corporation’s Cochin International Half Marathon along with actor Mohanlal.

Though not known to mince words on the field, the Turbanator, as he is nicknamed, proved to be a man of few words. He thanked organisers for giving him an opportunity to be part of the event while promising to run with Kochi. “I will be running alongside you for a healthier Kochi,” he said.

Earlier, Mohanlal said that it was satisfying to see the success of an event he was associated with from the beginning.

The actor also paid tributes to the legendary athlete Milkha Singh who, he said, played a big role in making the maiden edition of the Kochi Marathon a success as its brand ambassador.

The actor marvelled at the event that has propelled the city to international marathon map.

Mayor Tony Chammany said the marathon had proved to the world that the city was fit to host an international sporting event.

ADGP K. Padmakumar, and V.A. Shrikumar, MD and CEO of Push Integrated Communications, promoters of the marathon, were among those who spoke at the event.

The official website of the Cochin International Half Marathon was launched at the function.
