Many areas went out of power on Sunday evening after squally winds and heavy rain lashed the city and its suburbs, causing short circuits, uprooting trees and holding up traffic.

Sources in the KSEB said that forty four 11-kv feeders across the city developed problems because of stormy weather. All of them were set right by night.

Power supply is yet to be restored at a few places in the city, as reports last came in on Sunday night. Apart from lines getting snapped following trees falling over them near the High Court, Subhash Park and Katrikadavu, supply got disrupted after parallel lines came into contact following heavy winds, thus causing short circuit.

Workers of the KSEB had a tough time attending to complaints, as many employees were on weekly off/leave on Sunday. An uprooted tree fell over a car at Kaloor.
