The traffic warden had lodged a complaint with the Inspector General that the police officers initially investigating the case had made attempts to assist the accused in the case

A report by the City Police Commissioner in the case of assault on a female traffic warden absolved the investigating police officials of the charge that they assisted the accused to get out on bail.

The report was submitted by Commissioner K.G. James to Inspector General of Police K. Padmakumar here on Tuesday evening.

The traffic warden had lodged a complaint with the Inspector General that the police officers initially investigating the case had made attempts to assist the accused in the case, who allegedly abused her verbally and grabbed her by the shirt.

She alleged that the police report presented in court was prepared in a manner that would ensure that the accused was granted anticipatory bail. The Commissioner, in his report, said that the warden’s allegations did not hold merit and that the police report had been prepared after due investigations.

‘Threat attempt’

The warden had also complained that the accused may attempt to threaten her. “She has not received any threats until now. I have directed the police to take necessary action if she is threatened,” Mr. James said.
