Traffic diversion from today

October 09, 2011 02:51 pm | Updated 02:51 pm IST - KOCHI

The City Traffic Police are bringing in traffic regulations in connection with the demolition and reconstruction of the North overbridge for the metro rail project.

The traffic regulations will be in place between 8 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. with effect from Sunday and will be applicable only to the side bridge that lets in traffic towards the city. As part of the regulations, autorickshaws, motorcycles and light motor goods vehicles coming from Kaloor side will not be allowed to enter the city through the overbridge.

Two-wheelers, autorickshaws and light motor goods vehicles coming from Edappally side would have to take Palarivattom-Thammanam Junction and Thammanam-Pullepady Road; or deviate near Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, to take Karanakodam Junction and Thammanam-Pullepady Road; or turn from Kaloor Junction to take K.K. Road-Kathrikadavu underpass and Thammanam-Pullepady Road and then enter Pullepady bridge to reach C.P. Ummer Road and Rajaji Road to reach M.G. Road.

All vehicles coming from Aluva, except city buses, can turn at the highway overbridge at Kalamassery to take Vallarpadom Container Terminal Road to reach High Court Junction and return along that route.

All vehicles going out of the city can continue using the North overbridge, said a press release.
