With the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) gearing up to excavate a two-metre-wide portion across the western side of Padma Junction, vehicles proceeding from Jos Junction towards Madhava Pharmacy Junction will be diverted through alternative roads on Saturday and Sunday.
The excavation is being done near Padma Junction, for which a 200-metre portion of the road on the western side will be barricaded between Padma Junction and Gopala Prabhu Road. This is to identify the precise location and alignment of water and sewage pipelines and also cables along M.G. Road. The two-metre wide excavated portion across the road will be restored by Sunday night using concrete. Vehicles from Madhava Pharmacy Junction proceeding towards Jos Junction may ply as usual.
The traffic police has said that private buses bound for Madhava Pharmacy Junction will be diverted from Ravipuram through Menaka and Banerjee Road. KSRTC buses will use the A L Jacob overbridge and Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road to arrive at and leave the KSRTC bus stand.
There is concern that this may cause chaos at the entry point of the bridge from the KSRTC stand.
Cars and smaller vehicles may take a diversion from Ravipuram, Pallimukku, Jos Junction or Hospital Junction, reach Menaka and arrive at Madhava Pharmacy Junction through Banerjee Road.
The dug up area will be restored by Sunday night using concrete and opened to traffic on Monday morning.
A similar work would be taken up at KPCC Junction next weekend for which the western side of Jos Junction-Mullassery Canal Junction stretch would be barricaded, a DMRC spokesman said.
