Traffic restrictions will be imposed in various parts of the city on Sunday in preparation for Bharatiya Janata Party leader Narendra Modi’s visit.

Vehicular movement will be restricted along the route from Vathuruthy to the DCC junction to Marine Drive between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Those arriving in the city for the function to commemorate the centenary of the ‘Kayal Navodhanam’ from the north side should park their vehicles near Bolghatty junction and Chathiath, Gosree roads. Those approaching the city from the southern side can park along the service roads from Vyttila to Palarivattom junctions. Parking will not be allowed on the route from the Naval Base to High Court junction between noon and 5 p.m.

Regulations will also be put in place for the Celebrity Cricket League match to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Kaloor. Those arriving in the city to watch the match in large vehicles can park along the service roads between Edappally and Vyttila junctions. Those arriving in smaller vehicles have been asked to approach the stadium through the Thammanam route or via Kathrikadavu. The vehicles can be parked in the ground in front of the stadium, St. Albert’s College ground, Karanakkodam St. Jude Church ground, IMA ground, Water Authority ground, and helipad ground.

Movement of all vehicles except service buses will be restricted along the Edappally-High Court route. The police said that viewers could bring water in plastic bottles, but not glass bottles. Entry to the stadium will be allowed from 1.30 p.m. Drunk persons will not be allowed to enter the ground. Strict action will be taken against those destroying stadium property. Items such as cigarettes, lighters, fire crackers will not be allowed into the stadium.
