Vedic scholar and writer Thuravoor Viswambharan, 74, died at a private hospital here on Friday.
He was undergoing treatment for cancer for some time. Known for his scholarship in Indian philosophy, the epics, and the Vedas, he interpreted them as simply as possible for the lay reader. His Mahabharathaparyatanam: Bharathadarsanam Oru Punarvayana endeared him to the readers of Indian thought. A popular teacher, he was fielded by the NDA for the 2016 Assembly polls from Tripunithura. The body was cremated at the crematorium at Pachalam. Viswambharan is survived by his wife and two daughters.
