Thripunithura goes without water again

April 07, 2010 03:39 pm | Updated 03:39 pm IST - KOCHI:

Water supply was disrupted in Thripunithura from Monday morning following a fault at the Choondi Water Treatment plant.

This is the second time in a week that the supply is being disrupted. Sources at the Kerala Water Authority said that there is not likely to be any supply on Wednesday too.

There was a breakdown at the KSEB Sub-Station, Puthupanam, that supplies power to the treatment plant. While the plant was connected to another feeder, pumping could not take place because of the low voltage, said sources. A panel board at the Sub-Station was reportedly burnt. The damage is expected to be rectified only by Wednesday. Earlier, a shutter valve malfunction at the plant had left the people in Thripunithura without water for two days.
