A person who was recently questioned by the police in connection with the Paul Muthoot George murder case died under suspicious circumstances here on Monday.

Shihab, 29, who allegedly arranged vehicles to bring the hired gang of goons led by prime accused Jayachandran to Alappuzha on August 22, called his friends on Monday morning and told them that he was feeling uneasy after eating food he had bought from a nearby eatery. His friends found him in a weak condition when they reached his house at Mannancherry, near here. Though they took him to hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

Hospital sources and the police suspect consumption of poison to be the cause of death, though this will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report arrives.
