The annual budget of Perumbavoor municipality for 2010-11 envisages an income of Rs.23.69 crore and an expenditure of Rs.22.69 crore. The budget, presented by Premji H. Patel, municipal vice-chairman, on Monday, has allocated funds for modernisation of water filter plant at Vallam and renovation of children's park at Nagancherry mana.

Construction of a mini bus stand at the lorry stand and extension of street light facility are among the projects proposed. Waste treatment projects will be established under the decentralised scheme, the chairperson Mini Joshy said.

The revenue from municipal taxes and other fees under various heads constitutes Rs.2.286 crore while the income from entertainment tax, birth and death registration fee and others is Rs.70.77 lakh. The revenue from municipal properties is Rs.2.60 crore and the revenue from municipal fees is Rs.37.16 lakh. The grant from government is Rs.1.12 crore. The revenue from capital account including MP fund and aid from financial institutions will be Rs.8.53 crore.

The budget has allocated Rs.3.09 crore for construction of town hall. An amount of Rs.39 lakh has been set apart for lorry stand. The allocation for modernisation of abattoirs is Rs.25 lakh. The EMS housing scheme gets Rs.2 crore.

An amount of Rs.5 lakh has been allocated for extension of water pipeline. An equal amount has been set apart for filter plant modernisation at Vallam. The allocation for preservation of water sources at Pattal is Rs.5 lakh. An amount of Rs.4 lakh has been allocated for setting up an Anganwadi there.
