Summit to lay down roadmap for turning Kerala into digital hub

Over 30 stalwarts to address the meet themed ‘Towards a Digital Future’

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the two-day global digital summit, #Future, at Le Meridian here on Thursday.

The event, aimed at drawing up an actionable roadmap to position Kerala as a hub for digital innovation and investment, thus accelerating its growth across various business sectors, is likely to be attended by 2,000 professionals, entrepreneurs, academicians, start-ups, and corporate bodies.

The summit, the brainchild of the State’s High Power IT Committee (HPIC), will debate on disruptive technologies, lay down the roadmap for Kerala on the technological front and inspire and energise people towards a knowledge-driven digital future.

“Preparations for the conclave are in the final stages, and registration for delegates is under way,” HPIC Chairman and Infosys co-founder S.D. Shibulal told the media here on Monday.

‘Towards a Digital Future’ is the theme of the big-ticket event, which will be addressed by over 30 stalwarts from the spheres of Information Technology, banking, retail, health, education, and travel and transportation.

Mr. Shibulal said that the event would be a wonderful opportunity for Kerala-based companies, start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs, and individuals to be enlightened by some of the brightest minds of the world on the emerging trends in the digital space and what the future holds for them.

Panel discussions

There will be six panel discussions – the digital future of travel and transportation; data: oil of digital future; digital future of health and sustainability; digital future of education and skills, technology disruption and inclusion, and the digital future of banking finance and retail.

Raghuram Rajan, former Governor, Reserve Bank of India; Nandan Nilekani, co-founder and non-executive chairman, Infosys; Kris Gopalakrishnan, former CEO, Infosys, and member, HPIC, and Prof. Geetha Gopinath, Financial Advisor to the Chief Minister, are among the key speakers at the summit.

Besides, top executives from Cisco Systems, Volvo India, Flytxt BV, UST Global, Lufthansa Group, Emirates Group, Dell EMC, Innovation Incubator Inc, Federal Aviation Administration, Mapmygenome, INSEAD, NASSCOM, Ernst and Young, and KPMG will address the gathering.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, IT Secretary M. Sivasankar, NASSCOM president R. Chandrashekhar, KPMG India chairman Arun Kumar, and Kris Gopalakrishnan will attend the valedictory session.

HPIC members V.K. Mathews and Rajesh Nair were present at the press meet.
