The Ernakulam district unit of the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT) is organising spot registrations for the roof-top solar home plant scheme being supported by the Union and State governments.

A statement from the Public Relations Department said that the beneficiaries would be chosen on the basis of the registration.

Spot registrations

The Union government will provide a support of Rs.52,197 for the power plant and the State government support will be to the tune of Rs.39,000. Spot registrations can be done at the ANERT office close to the Ernakulam district collectorate on July 19 and 20. Those wishing to register must come with identity card and registration fee of Rs.500.

ANERT sources said that the Agency planned to close the 10,000 Roof-Top Solar Programme by the end of the current month and that around 600 more applications would be accepted across Kerala for the programme.

The total target for the programme is 10 MW and more than 9,000 separate systems are on the verge of being installed now across the State.

The second phase of the Roof-Top Solar Programme is expected to be introduced later this year with a total capacity of 10 MW.

The grid-connected solar programme is also chucking along.
