February 02, 2014 12:33 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 05:21 am IST - Kochi:

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala laid the foundation stone for a new building for the Mulavukad police station here on Saturday morning.

The Minister said the construction of the station would be completed quickly in a time-bound manner. The station, with three floors, is coming up at Kattath junction at Mulavukad. The new station with improved facilities was found necessary to cater to the security of the region, which includes the International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vallarpadam.

Sources said the station was likely to be converted into a Janamaithri station and tourism station once the work of the new building is completed.
