Steps will be taken to check outbreak of infectious diseases, especially dengue fever, in areas coming under Perumbavoor municipality.
A meeting convened by District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla at the Government Taluk Hospital at Perumbavur on Tuesday decided to take immediate steps to check spread of dengue fever in the region.
An official release issued here said that the Collector visited Rayons company, a plywood manufacturing unit and scrap collection centre in Perumbavoo from where dengue outbreak was reported.
Steps will be taken to clear the bushes and pollutants at the Rayons company. The services of labourers and earth movers will be provided to carry out the drive. Health Department, Perumbavoor municipality and Kinfra will join the cleaning programme.
The meeting decided to carry out inspections in restaurants, juice shops, industrial units and places susceptible to outbreak of infectious diseases. Squads involving officials of various departments including health, food safety, revenue, labour, police and municipality will be deployed. Stringent action will be taken against institutions that fail to adhere to the directives issued to check spread of infectious diseases. Such institutions will be shut down as part of the drive. Surveillance cameras will be set up to catch those dumping solid waste at public places. Vector control measures and awareness campaigns among the public will also be carried out in the coming days.
