Startup Village leaves delegation from Andhra Pradesh impressed

The government of Andhra Pradesh, which intends to set up a telecom incubator a la Startup Village at Kalamassery, sent a high-level delegation to the incubator on Friday to seek their support and expertise.

A high-level delegation led by J. Satyanarayana, IT Advisor to Andhra Pradesh Government, met Startup Village chief executive officer Pranav Kumar Suresh and Infopark chief executive officer Hrishikesh Nair on the Startup Village campus.

As India’s first private-public partnership technology business incubator, Startup Village has redefined IT entrepreneurship in Kerala.

“We are really impressed with Startup Village and its functioning,” said Mr. Satyanarayana, whose led a delegation comprising Ajay Sawhney, principal secretary to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister; Sanjay Jaju, secretary, ITE&C; and Phani Chandra, consultant, E&Y.

The visiting team looked at the infrastructure of the incubator and the facilities offered to young innovators to start their businesses. The State government’s Student Entrepreneurship Policy meant to promote entrepreneurship culture among the youth was also discussed.

“Startup village is a dream to create a billion dollar campus. When it becomes every State’s dream, it becomes a reality. We are happy to see that our idea has become a trendsetter. The fact that a State like Andhra Pradesh, which got on the IT bandwagon relatively early, should look to Startup Village for inspiration shows just how far we have come in these past two years,” said Startup Village chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar. Mr. Sawhney said Andhra Pradesh wanted to create a similar system in the State for promoting young entrepreneurs particularly by recommending a policy on the lines of the one in Kerala.
