: The Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) court on Monday remanded Ajay V George, Managing Director of Star Homes in judicial custody.

Ajay was arrested from Belgaum in Karanataka last week in connection with several cheating cases pending against him. According to police, the accused had cheated several persons by promising apartments and swindled about Rs.45 crore. Officials said the police are slated to file a petition on Tuesday seeking seven days custody.

He was first arrested in May 2012 over complaints of duping many and not delivering flats he promised to build.

When the case went to the Kerala State Legal Service Authority, he pleaded for time to pay back the money and gave post-dated cheques. After the deadline expired, he had gone into hiding.
