St. Teresa's celebrates UGC recognition

St. Teresa's College on Tuesday celebrated its being accorded the ‘college with potential for excellence' recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Cyriac Thomas, member of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities Education, delivered the keynote address on the occasion. Dr. Thomas exhorted the students to take up positions of leadership in politics and administration. He also urged the parents to allow their children to pursue the path of their dreams.

Sr. Christabelle, Principal, presided over the meeting. Shally Joseph, Reader, Department of Sociology and co-ordinator of research and development, presented the report on the occasion.

Sr. Francis Ann, Provincial Superior and Manager, spoke.

UGC had earmarked Rs. 1 crore assistance to the college under its ‘colleges with potential for excellence scheme'. St. Teresa's was among 149 institutions in the country identified by the UGC as colleges with potential for excellence.
