SSLC results: good show by government schools

Cent per cent pass for 30 schools in Ernakulam district

Majority of the government schools in Ernakulam district fared well in the SSLC examination, the results of which were declared on Thursday.

Thirty schools spread across the educational sub-districts including Ernakulam, Aluva, Kothamangalam, and Muvattupuzha registered 100 per cent success in the examination.

In the sub-district wise break-up, Muvattupuzha topped the list, with nine government schools registering 100 per cent success. The schools include Government Model HS, Muvattupuzha; Government East HS, Muvattupuzha; Government HSS, Namakuzhi; Government . HSS, Pampakuda; Government HSS, Sivankunnu; Government HSS, East Marady; Government VHSS, Thirumarady; Government HSS, Mammalassery; and Government HSS, Ooramana.

Eights schools each in Aluva and Kothamangalam won 100 per cent success in the examination. The schools in Aluva include Government HSS, Edathala; Government HS, Kuttamassery; Government HS, Mudickal; Government HSS, Mookkannoor; Government VHSS, Ambalamugal; Government HSS, Kadayiruppu; Government HSS, Kongorppilly; and Government HS, Pazhathottam.

In Kothamangalam, the schools that registered 100 per cent success include Government HSS, Kallil; Government HSS, Akanad; Government HSS, Cherannalloor; Government VHSS, Pallarimangalam; Government VHSS, Kadavoor, Government HSS, Chathamattom; Government HS, Ayyankavu; and Government HS, Poika Vadattupara.

Seven schools in Ernakulam educational sub-district recorded 100 per cent success. These include Government HSS, Puthenthode; EM Government HSS, Fort Kochi; Government HS, Pulickamaly; Government HS, Thiruvankulam; Government Palace HS, Tripunithura; Government Regional Fisheries Technical HS, Thevara; and Government HS, Panayappilly.

Ten government schools in the district lost the 100 per cent success achievement by a whisker when one student each failed to clear all the subjects. The schools include Government VHSS, Kadamakkudy; Government HS, Muppathadam; Government Girls HSS, North Paravur; Government HSS, South Ezhupunna; Government HS, West Kadungalloor; Government HSS, Chowara; Government VHSS, Iringole; Government VHSS, Mathirappilly; Government VHSS, Neriamangalam; and Government HSS, Mammalassery.

Teachers in various government schools in the city pointed out that government schools have performed better compared to the previous year. “We have been able to utilise all our resources effectively to ensure that students clear the examinations by securing good grades. A general view that government schools are poor in their performance seems to be going wrong,” said a Headmistress of a government school in the city.
