A special purpose vehicle (SPV) for monorail projects in the State will be formed within a month, following which its director board will meet.

This was decided at a meeting of senior Public Works Department (PWD) officials under the chairmanship of Minister for Public Works V.K Ebrahim Kunju here on Monday.

The administrative sanction is ready, and the SPV has to be registered. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted the detailed project report (DPR) for the Kozhikode monorail, while the one for the Thiruvananthapuram project is expected soon.

Later, addressing mediapersons, Mr. Kunju said 367 km of roads would be built under the Kerala State Transport Project, with funding from World Bank.

As much as 98 per cent of the land acquisition was over, and 90 per cent of the tenders would be finalised by December. This was apart from heavy maintenance of 1,000 km of roads for which World Bank funding was awaited.
