With a view to encourage the fighting spirit of children who survived cancer, the Cochin Cancer Society on Sunday organised a programme ‘Kalikkoottam’ for showcasing their talents.

The event, held at a hotel in Kochi, was jointly inaugurated by oncologist V.P. Gangadharan, Cherian Chacko, president of the Cochin Cancer Society and Narayanan Potty, secretary, Cochin Cancer Society. About 104 children from various parts of the State attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gangadharan said the children would serve as a model for those fighting the disease while the event would help spread a message of hope among other cancer patients. The advancements in technology such as the introduction of mobile mammogram units for early detection of cancer had strengthened the fight against the disease, he added.

Chalakudy MP Innocent, actors Tiny Tom, Lena, Guinness Pakru and music director Gopi Sunder, were among those attended the programme.

The advancements in technology have strengthened the fight against the disease, says V.P. Gangadharan.
