Infopark Kochi no longer will be identifiable by the long line of cars parked outside its campus. The parking woes of the premier IT park of the State are all set to become a thing of the past. In a few months’ time, Infopark will be able to accommodate 300 more cars on its campus.
Infopark Chief Executive Officer Hrishikesh Nair said parking space for an additional 100 cars would be provided in a few days. Efforts are also being made to provide parking space for another 200 cars in the next three months.
Parking space for 100 cars is being readied behind Athulya IT Building complex, which at present accommodates 500 cars spread over eight floors.
Tenders to set up a space to park 200 cars behind Thapasya IT Building have been invited.
Besides lack of parking space, a pressing problem that faced the IT park was the dilapidated state of Infopark Road.
Now, Public Works Department (PWD) authorities have assured Infopark that the road would be made motorable if rain stays away. Every day, hundreds of motorists use the road, which was badly damaged in heavy rain.
As the road leads to the SmartCity Kochi project site, its promoters had taken up the issue with the State government. SmartCity authorities said the broken road deterred them from inviting prospective clients to their site.
The PWD had promised SmartCity authorities in July that the road would be repaired within a month. The latest assurance of the PWD comes after the demand made by Infopark Kochi.
