Young aspirants walked out with smiles from the examination halls in Ernakulam on the first day of the State engineering entrance examinations on Monday.
Even though many walked into the classrooms with butterflies in their stomach, they returned with smiles as the Chemistry and Physics papers were relatively easy. Except for a few questions, both the papers were easy to answer. The difficulty level was lower compared to last year, the students said. A senior Chemistry teacher at a professional coaching centre in town said there was only one data-based question in the Chemistry paper. “With the difficulty level for the engineering entrance coming down every year, an average student can easily answer 30 to 35 questions,” he said.
Stating that the Physics paper consisted of mainly direct questions, a professor of Physics added that it would have been a cakewalk for students who had prepared well for the entrance examination. The average student might have found one or two questions difficult, he said.
Teachers said the results of the Plus Two examination would be crucial for the students as it holds 50 per cent weightage while preparing the final rank list of the engineering entrance.
