Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the science congress and lay the foundation stone for the Science and Technology Park and Research Centre at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) in Angamaly as part of the conclusion of its decennial celebrations here on October 9.
P.K. Abdu Rabb, Education Minister, will inaugurate the FISAT Centre for Uplifting Science in Society (FOCUSS) student branches in schools and lay the foundation stone for the FISAT decennial building on the occasion.
P.C. Chacko, MP, will inaugurate the new block of FISAT women’s hostel and release the science congress logo.
Training centre
K.P. Dhanapalan, MP, will lay the foundation stone for the training centre for physically challenged children.
M.P. Parameswaran, former scientist of BAARC, will speak on ‘envisioning science for society’ in the afternoon session.
L. Kameswara Rao, Professor, IAP, IISc, Bangalore, will give a lecture on ‘New trends in science and technology while J. Nagaraju, Professor, IAP, IISc, Bangalore, will speak on ‘Application of science in society’.
P.V. Mathew, Chairman of the governing body, said that the FISAT Science and Technology park and research centre will give thrust on advanced research in science and technology.
It will provide hands on experience to budding young science talents in schools and colleges, he said.
