Session on criminal law held

A plenary session for public prosecutors was organised by the Directorate of Prosecution on Saturday in connection with the 155th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Penal Code.

It was inaugurated by Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Ashok Bhushan.

He said imparting training to law officers had become imperative to make the criminal justice system and the society strong enough to face new challenges.

Unethical practices

He also added that it was the responsibility of the public prosecutor to see that trials resulted in conviction of the accused. At the same time, it was also the duty of prosecutors to see that the accused did not suffer due to unfair or unethical practices.

High Court Judge Justice K.T. Sankaran, Advocate General K.P. Dandapani, Director General of Prosecution T. Asaf Ali and Delhi Judicial Academy chairman B.T. Kaul spoke.
