Seminar on SEZ concludes

The two-day national seminar on ‘Special Economic Zones: Opportunities and Challenges', organised jointly by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala State Higher Education Council and the PG and Research Department of Commerce, The Cochin College, ended here on Thursday.

Vikaram Bapat, Managing Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bangalore, was the resource person at the session on ‘SEZs: Procedural and Tax Aspects'.

He said that concessions and priority accorded to enterprises had attracted entrepreneurs to Special Economic Zones in the country.

Professor and Dean of the School of Social Sciences and International Studies, Pondicherry University, D. Sambandhan spoke on ‘SEZs: Foreign Exchange Implications'.

A total of 12 papers were presented by delegates from various universities and institutions, said M. C. Dileepkumar, seminar coordinator.
