The second round of the population census will be conducted from Wednesday to February 28, while the revision round will be held from March 1 to 5, District Collector P. Venugopal has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Venugopal said those who were left out in the round to be held from Wednesday could apply and get themselves enumerated in the revision round. The census of homeless people would be done on the night of February 28, for which enumerators would be accompanied by the police.

There would be 4,375 enumeration blocks in the district, for which there would be 4,227 enumerators, monitored by 709 supervisors. The provisional list compiled by March 5 would be submitted to the Census Department by March 8.

The Collector, who recalled instances of certain members of the public not cooperating with the enumerators, said it was the responsibility and duty of each citizen to cooperate with the process. This was not a mere headcount, but a collection of statistics that would be used to formulate national policy and schemes. The information given by the public to the enumerators would not be used for any other purpose and had no validity before court as evidence. The information, he said, would be kept confidential as per Census laws.

Additional District Magistrate Antony Dominique was also present.
