North Paravur and Aluva educational sub-districts were in a neck-and-neck position on day two of the Ernakulam Revenue District School Arts Fest being held at Muvattupuzha.

North Paravur was leading the point tally with 355 points, closely followed by Aluva at 353 points when the results were compiled around 8.30 p.m. Thripunithura was at the third place with 343 points.

In the Higher Secondary category, North Paravur was at the first position with 157 points, followed by Kolencherry and Aluva at 154 and 153 points. Aluva was leading the high school category with 152 points. North Paravur was at the second position with 146 points, followed by Ernakulam at 139 points. Kothamangalam was leading the point tally in the upper primary section with 72 points, followed by Perumbavoor (67) and Thripunithura (63).

Aluva (48) and Angamaly (46) were at first and second positions in the High School Sanskrit Arts Fest, followed by North Paravur at the third place with 45 points. Aluva was leading the point tally in the upper primary section with 61 points. Perumbavoor and Mattancherry were at second position with 58 points each.

Perumbavoor educational sub-district was leading in the high school category in the Arabic Arts Fest with 54 points, followed by Muvattupuzha (43) and Ernakulam (42). In the UP upper primary section, Perumbavoor led with 46 points, followed by North Paravur (44) and Kothamangalam (40).

The second day of the fest had its own share of drama when a section of participants and parents protested against judges of dance events including Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. They alleged that the judges who had evaluated the performances in the sub-district arts fest were allowed to judge the district-level competitions again. The results of the Kuchipudi competition were declared by the time the protests erupted. However, the organisers decided not to change the verdict given by the judges even as they were replaced by a new panel for the Bharatanatyam competition.

The conduct of the fest was hit by financial crunch, as the organising committee continued its wait for the ₹20 lakh government assistance, which got held up owing to restrictions imposed on release of money from the treasury. There was no dearth of appeals against evaluation by judges.
