Rise in milk price opposed

March 19, 2010 11:51 am | Updated 12:05 pm IST - Kochi:

A group of DYFI activists led by district president K.M. Riyad registered their protest against hike in price of Milma milk by forcibly entering the Milma office at Koonamthai in Edapally on Thursday.

The protesters alleged that the price rise was brought into effect without consulting the government.

The protestors, arrested by the police, were later released on bail.

The Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited, one of the three regional wings of Milma, increased the price of its homogenised variety of milk, having high fat content, from Rs.22 to Rs.24 a litre from Wednesday.
