A delegation of trade unions met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday and requested him to mount pressure on the Centre for providing a revival package for Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) Limited.

They discussed various demands including the waiver of the company’s debt and setting up a urea-ammonium complex. The country is importing 90 lakh tonnes of ammonium annually. Hence, the plant would be viable, they said.

Mr. Vijayan promised to take up the issues with the Centre. K.N. Ravindranath and K. Chandran Pillai (CITU), and K. Muralidharan and V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, MLAs, were among those who met Mr. Vijayan.
