Residents to protest before IOC office

September 28, 2012 10:37 am | Updated 10:37 am IST - KOCHI:

The Ernakulam District Residents Associations Apex Council (EDRAAC) will organise a march to the office of the Indian Oil Corporation at Panampilly Nagar on October 4, in protest against the decision to impose restriction on number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders and delay in supply of the same.

The meeting of the Council held here on Thursday also registered its protest against the policy decisions taken by Union and State governments causing inflation.

Even though IOC officials had promised during meetings convened by the District Collector to clear the backlog of pending bookings for domestic connections, it was never implemented.

The residents’ association officials also expressed concern over the safety of cylinders supplied in the light of recent accidents.

P. Rangadasa Prabhu, president, EDRAAC, presided over the meeting.
