Rear Admiral Grewal takes over as FOST

Rear Admiral S.K. Grewal, a navigation and direction specialist, assumed charge as the Navy’s Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at the Naval base here on Saturday.

He was earlier functioning as Chief Staff Officer in-charge of operations at the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam.

Commissioned in 1984, he is an alumnus of the national Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He has also done the Naval Command Course at Naval War College, USA. He served as navigating officer of warships Hosdurg, Magar, Udaygiri, Godavari and Ganga and commanded INS Prahar, Vibhuti, and Talwar. The Rear Admiral was part of the commissioning crew of frigate INS Trishul on which he served as executive officer.

He was Naval Attaché at the Embassy of India in Moscow. 

The office of FOST functions under the Southern Naval Command chief and conducts operational sea training for all Navy and Coast Guard ships by enhancing crew proficiency in all aspects.
