The Hindu in School chess competition in city on Dec 9

Students in love with chess may test their skills in the game of intellect as this edition of The Hindu in School chess competition will be held at Udyan Convention Centre, Vennala, Kochi, on December 9.

The event is being held in association with the Kerala Chess Association, affiliated to the All India Chess Federation. The contest will be held in the age categories of under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15 for boys and girls.

Spot registration will open at 8.30 a.m. All participants will have to bring their own chess sets and clocks, if available.

The decision of the tournament committee will be final. It has every right to make addition or amendments to the rules.

Students who have completed the online registration should bring a printout of the confirmatory e-mail received from The Hindu along with their school identity card. Both the documents are mandatory and need to be submitted at the registration desk. The tournament will be played on Swiss League basis under latest FIDE Rapid Rules.

The entry fee per participant is ₹150. Thyrocare is the national sponsor of the competition and Arrow Publications is the knowledge partner. The prize distribution will be held at 4.30 p.m. Each participant will be given a participation certificate. Winners will receive awards along with merit certificates.
